"Gone Girl" will come out nationwide on October 3rd.

Even if Ben Affleck is not coming back to Cape Girardeau for the special screening of “Gone Girl” on October 2nd, residents will still have a taste of Hollywood.

In addition to the event put in place at Wehrenberg Theatres' Cape West 14 Cine, two after parties will be hosted at the Isle of Capri Casino in Downtown Cape Girardeau after the screening of October 2nd and 3rd, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

According to Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau public relations director Stacy Dohogne Lane, the event will be free of charge and open to anyone age 21 and up.

“If you were an extra in the movie or if you’re just really excited to see Cape Girardeau on the big screen, come celebrate the release of ‘Gone Girl’ at Keller’s at Isle Casino Cape Girardeau,” Lane said. “They’ll even have food and drinks inspired by the movie and there might be a few props from the movie on display as well.”

Lane said the chef and his team looked at Amy Dunne’s Pinterest page, created by 20th Century Fox to publicize the movie, to create some dishes for the event.

James Dufek, the TV and Film operation manager and a professor of the Mass Media department at Southeast Missouri State University, took part in the organization of the filming of “Gone Girl” in Cape Girardeau last year and is on the “Gone Girl” committee. He said the after party is for everyone in the community and an opportunity for the people who worked on the film to share their experiences.

“The after party is going to be really for all the people that were involved, especially the extras. And because there were so many extras they want to be able to be recognized, and the Isle of Capri and their staff are working on how that recognition will take place,” said Dufek.

Dufek has been invited to attend the premiere of “Gone Girl” at the New York Film Festival on September 26. He plans to put together an informational package to show to the community that will feature interviews of the cast and crew telling what they thought of their experience in Cape Girardeau.

“I hope to bring that information back and show it to our screening, to the people here, and to the after party,” Dufek said.

He hopes to show that video to the public either at the special showing or during the after parties. If circumstances over which he has no control disrupt his schedule, Dufek said the video will be available on the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau website.
