Left Of The Dial #263 - The Glimpse Of The Dream

This week we're playing new music from Emel Mathlouthi. In 2008 her music was banned in her native Tunisia and she has since lived in Paris and New York City. In fact, during the Tunisian Revolution of 2011 her song "KelmtiHorra" became known as the anthem for the Arab Spring. Her new album is titled Ensen, which means “human,” this song is called “Ensen Dhaif (Ensen),”which means “human, helpless human.”

If Cherry Glazerr aren't one of the biggest deals in music in 2017, then that's all on us. They take their name from a morning news anchor at public radio station KCRWin Santa Monica. Their lead singer, Clementine Creevy, plays a rock musician in the TV show Transparent. Their latest album is titled Apocalipstick. Their video to accompany the song "Nuclear Bomb"  skirts along NSFW, particularly if you work at a Guitar Center.

Left of the Dial airs Friday nights from 9-11 and Saturdays from noon-2 on KRCU.
